Ep. 56 - On One

#seasonfinale

We are back after a little time away, and you are entering the Season 4 Finale. Here, I talk about my #Thanksgiving (or #Friendsgiving), the pestering COVID saga (messing up my plans), two jury verdicts (Rittenhouse & #AhmaudArbery, how I met Queen Elizabeth, the proper time frame to get to know someone, drama with a few of my friends, and my dog has to wear diapers.

It would not be the Café if we didn’t discuss these things openly and honestly — but most importantly — while having a good ole drink in our hands.

Stream wherever you listen to podcasts or on our website. Grab your favorite beverage, sit at our table, and DRINK, LISTEN, & CONVERSE!!!

Episode 55: Loaded Word

#loadedword #kylerittenhouse #kenosha #jacboblake #Anthonyhuber #GaigeGrosskreutz #josephrosenbaum #wordsmatters

What’s in a word? If you are shot with an AR-15, are you not a #victim? If you are killed with an AR-15, are you not a #victim? Are you only a #victim when the jury convicts someone of killing or injuring you. Well, the judge in the Kyle Rittenhouse murder and attempted murder surely believes that the term “victim” is a #loadedword and that “alleged victim” is its cousin. Yet, the terms #looters #rioters #arsonists are not loaded words (even though technically they also relate to a crime). In this short podcast episode, I discuss the recent pretrial hearing that had folks up in arms on social media.

It would not be the Café if we didn’t discuss these things openly and honestly — but most importantly — while having a good ole drink in our hands.

Ep. 54: Love Tap or Tapped to Death

#socialmedia #statuschange #commonlawmarriage #accident #murder #southwales

Joining me in this day-late episode is my good friend José. We discuss a case out of South Wales where a 26-year old mother, Haley Jones, is stabbed in the chest and strangled. But who would do this to her? Was it her common law husband, Brian Lewis? Was it some jealous fling? Find out in this #truecrime episode.

We discuss hearsay and how people grow, but don’t take the time to grow their relationships with them.

It would not be the Café if we didn’t discuss these things openly and honestly — but most importantly — while having a good ole drink in our hands.

Ep. 53: #Distant #Lover

#college #brockport #longdistancerelationships #jealousy #uncontrollable #anger rocks a college campus and causes a community and a family to lose an 18-year old friend, teammate, and daughter in this #truecrime episode.

We are traveling back into time to 2012 to Brockport, New York, on the campus of SUNY at Brockport. Alexandra Kogut, known affectionately as Alex by those who knew her, was a thriving 18-year-old freshman. She was just beginning to blossom, an avid swimmer, and a true friend. Her 21-year-old boyfriend, Clayton Whittemore, was back at home in New Havenport, but they were committed to a long-distance relationship. But that ended with Alex’s brutal #beating and #murder as a result of a #couples #spat gone wrong.

It would not be the Café if we didn’t discuss these things openly and honestly — but most importantly — while having a good ole drink in our hands.

Ep. 52: #Single #InARelationship #It'sComplicated

#Love #Obsession #Drugs #Alcohol can be a hell of a concoction, and one that can lead you into dangerous territory. That’s just the case in this #truecrime episode.

We are traveling back into time to 2008 and internationally to the United Kingdom where we discuss the case of Sarah Richardson. Sarah was only 26 years old when she was taken from this world, receiving over 47 stab wounds and lacerations. Her estranged husband, Edward Richardson, also received knife wounds to his throat and hands. Was Sarah’s #stabbing and #murder a result of a #drugaddiction, or was she the victim of a #serialkiller or #spreekiller? Could her #socialmedia provide a clue to the investigating officers concerning what happened to this young and vibrant soul?

Ep. 51: Who's the Victim?!?

We open this episode providing condolences to a legendary singer, Ms. Sarah Dash, who was one of the founding members of Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles, who then went on to be LaBelle, and who had her solo career. A true talent and an amazing persona on stage.

Today’s episode may touch on some sensitive issues, such as statutory rape, LGBTQ issues, and power dynamics in relationships. We are discussing the case of Tarence “TJ” Mitchell and Ronald Taylor Jr. TJ, 18 years old at the time, was Bloomfield High’s star athlete — academically sound and popular. Ronald Taylor, 27 at the time, was TJ’s friend and avid football game supporter. But something happened between them and Ronald ended up dead. Was TJ forced into a relationship with Ronald? Was Ronald attempting to extort TJ into the relationship by threatening to expose him? Or did TJ act out fear of how others would perceive him if they found out that he was in a relationship with another man? Power dynamic because of the age difference? Find out in this episode.

Ep. 50: Catfished to Death

We are going internationally! Travel with us to Sydney, Australia where we discuss a case where a random friend request goes extremely wrong. We are discussing the 2010 murder of Nona Belomesoff who was catfished not just once but twice. The murderer, Christopher Dannevig, used Nona’s love for animals against her, which ultimately led to her untimely and senseless murder. Was his upbringing so bad that he should be exonerated? Could Nona have prevented what occurred?

Ep. 49: The Man in the Middle (Audio Released)

Come with us back to the sunshine state of Florida, where we discuss a case involving a three-way love affair that went completely left. Left to the sense, that one girl ends up dead, one in jail, and the man involved just living his best life. That’s right, we’re talking about a 2009 crime involving Sarah Ludemann, Rachel Wade, and Josh Camacho. Two women vying for one man’s affection — a man who seemed to care less about either woman, but who enjoyed the Myspace debacle and physical melee.

Ep. 48: Teenage Deadly Affair (Audio Released)

Come with us to the sunshine state of Florida, where we discuss a case involving what should have been teenage puppy love but what quickly turned into a twisted murder plot. We discuss the senseless death of 15-year-old Seath Jackson who was killed by his former girlfriend, former best friend, two other individuals, and his nemesis (at least at the time). What Drake might have called the Facebook fingers, resulted in a life being taken due to a Facebook beef that uncontrollably escalated.

Ep. 47: A Family Affair - Audio Released

Come with us to Mountain City, Tennessee, where we discuss a case that only maybe Stephen King can think of with all the plots and twists. We discuss the double homicide of a couple, that stems from a disagreement, unset expectations of a friendship, and good ole social media — in this case Facebook. We chat it up about the murders of Bill Payne and Billy Jean Hayworth. And how, if at all, perhaps an old social media junkie, Janelle Potter, was involved — including her sixty-something year old parents — Barbara and Marvin “Buddy” Potter.

Ep. 45: Unpopular Opinion

In this episode, we are at the Café chopping it about Bill Cosby’s release and what the Philadelphia Supreme Court’s opinion really means — and it may just be an “unpopular opinion.” We also discuss:

(1) Travis Stackhouse, a Wisconsin father who is convicted of killing his 5-year old son over some cheesecake; (2) Norway’s law, prohibiting the posting of touched-up photos without saying that you touched up the photo; (3) the fact that God just might not like the ugly that is going on with the Tokyo Olympics; and (4) the senseless murder of a Spain man by twelve individuals — all over being homophobic and ignorant.
