Ep. 28: Netflix's 13th (a discussion)
In this episode, Sean, Cristhian, & Denise sit down to discuss the Netflix Documentary 13th.
Directed by Ava DuVernay and released in 2016, this film brings to light how race matters with respect to justice and mass incarceration in the United States. A powerful documentary, not just for those who want to learn, but for those who believe that they know and understand racial disparities in America. It highlights the dramatic increase of incarceration for black and brown individuals, which is attributed to political gamesmanship stemming from the passage of the 13th Amendment to now.
